The feeling of diving in a pool of creamy chocolate. The welcoming sweet and bitter taste of chocolate on your palate with crunchy salted pea-nutty chips surprising you in between and an overall cinnamon flavor shinning through. This is the wonderful and delicious flavor of Mexican chocolate concrete. This was my first time to Sheridan's and i know this won't be the last. If you are a chocolate lover like me the Mexican chocolate concrete is a must try.

***Sheridan's is a well known frozen custard shop in Missouri and Kansas; this shop has a throwback, walk-up look that is similar to the very famous Ted Drewes Frozen Custard in St. Louis; I had the caramel pretzel crunch concrete, which featured vanilla custard, caramel and pretzels; while I felt the frozen custard was way too soft (it felt melted-like), the vanilla custard did have a mild eggy custard flavor and the overall flavor of the concrete was fairly good; the crunchy and slightly salty pretzels combined with the rich fats here to deliver a experience reminiscent of eating good chocolate covered pretzels*** This Sheridan's is attached to a strip plaza that has its own free parking lot; the parking lot is big and it is easy finding an open space.

You just can't go wrong with Sheridan's. I love this location because it still feels like a little ice cream shack from my childhood; you walk up to the window and place your order. I love sitting outside, eating the amazing custard; one scoop vanilla, one scoop chocolate with oreo topping. The location (as with most locations other than Unforked) always seem really clean with very polite & fast customer service.

Awesome place to stop and grab some custard. The menu is vast enough you can pretty much mix and match anything you can think of. I had the concrete grasshopper, wife had the lemon custard, they both were delicious! It was even a little cold and rainy out but there were still a lot of people there for their custard fix.

I have been to this location several times and never had any complaints thus far. The staff is always friendly and helpful. My favorite is the Strawberry Shortcake! Also the staff never forgets my furry friend when I bring her in either as they always hook her with a cone too!!! The facility always appears to be clean too..

Sheridan's is awesome, and it seems like whenever I get the craving, hundreds of other Kansas Citians have the same idea. Their concretes are fantastic, but the turtle sundae is my favorite. This particular Sheridan's is dog friendly, and they will kindly provide your pooch with a sample of vanilla custard.

Oreo concrete.Best ever! Large cookie chucks. i can actually taste the cookie. Some places are so stingy with toppings you have to guest the flavor. Favorite spot in Overland Park. We will be back.

The custard is pretty good. The assortment of toppings is great. Located near the busy intersection of 75th and Metcalf, this store has the potential to be very great. The kids here clearly have no clue how to give good customer service. At first I thought it was just me, but they really are a bit impatient and kind of pushy. They are charging over 5 bucks for some of the regular concretes, and they can't even say a simple thank you? They act like this Prairie Village or something. Anyhow, As you can see by the crowds out front, the customers are very forgiving and just want the good custard. But with good service, they could make a decent custard joint outstanding. They have all the ingredients to makes it happen. But Sheridan's would be mindful that they are now not the only custard joint on the block. There are now others like Culver's and Freddie's which have decent custard and take customer service seriously.

This is a perfect place to eat prior to a colonoscopy. And in fact, they're very efficient at cleaning you out as it only took me 4 or 5 bites (all of which tasted quite off) to do the trick. I wish I could give it zero stars but I can't. Actually, 1 star is probably ok given the fact that I didn't vomit from the food, just blew up the bathroom when I got home. And what really scares me is that it was frozen dairy....how does ecoli or salmonella survive in frozen food? And how is this place so widespread across the city and still in business?
(1)Amy C.
This is my favorite place to get custard in KC, and the place I always bring custard virgins. There are many places in the city to get some good frozen custard, but Sheridan's blows them all out of the water! overall rating - food - 9 atmosphere - 6 selecion - 9

Sheridans frozen custard was my favorite frozen dessert before they closed down in omaha wish they would come back because they will always have a place in my heart
(5)Jennifer D.
What's not to love about Sheridan's? Service is generally fast and efficient. Frozen custard is to die for. They have heaters in the ceiling so you aren't uncomfortable waiting in the winter. Concrete: Brett's Butter Pecan is my favorite followed by Oreo and Reeses Pieces. Don't forget the dog cone for your best friend. :)

Apple pie and custard - ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This is fat kid heaven and I am definitely in the choir. The fat kid choir. Singing and smiling. This is one of the faster Sheridan's. Luckily I was able to pull up like a boss and there was no waiting! BAM!!! The down side is that it was pretty windy and a little chilly. Not a good combination since they do not have a drive thru. I think the owner must know that and compensate with bubble, super friendly, sweet, and caring staff. I was really happy with that which made up for the fact that I had to turn my car on Jamaica in the summertime to get warm. But my Sheridan's kept me super cool...yea. (In my cat daddy jazz voice)

We dig Sheridan's! We eat a lot of ice cream. A LOT of ice cream. Let me clarify that... WE EAT A WHOLE F* TON OF ICE CREAM. But Sheridan's isn't ice cream, you say! Well you are right. Its not. But for an Ice cream fanatic who doesn't believe in the silliness of frozen yogurt or ice cream alternatives, Sheridan's hits the spot. My go to concrete for a long time was the wedding cake with vanilla custard. They always mix in just the right amount of ingredients so that you can enjoy them, but still enjoy the delicious smooth custard. The staff here is mostly comprised of high school kids, so it is what it is. Expect to wait on a hot summer day. There are a few benches to have a seat but feel free to take advantage of the steps as well. Most of the time we head back to our car to enjoy ours. If you don't plan on eating your custard there, you can ask for it to go! They will put your custard in a nice bag that travels well and keeps your custard frozen for the trip.

I got introduced to Frozen custard just a few months ago and I fell in love. It's not like ice cream, not like gelato, not a sorbet, none of the above. Ice cream would be creamy, Gelato is more dense but richer, Sorbet is for fruit usually. Frozen custard comes in Concretes which is a cup full of goodness. If you are familiar with Cold Stone and how they mix toppings into ice cream this is similar, but the custard is like a mix of ice cream and maybe a thick milk shake w/o the milky part. I love the Mocha almond it comes with Chocolate concrete with almonds and coffee. I tend to add brownie bites to make kind of my own Chocolate and Coffee concrete creations. Coconut concrete is real tasty also. And I had the Cookies and Cream the other day and it is just like it's name. Tip: If you don't like what they offer feel free to make your own, you probably wouldn't fail. Concretes run about $5-6 and my brownie additional topping was like 75cents I think extra. Don't forget gloves to hold the cold concretes on a winter day

Got the caramel pretzel concrete thingy and it was divine. Even better since I added peanut butter and hot fudge to it. It was like a Take 5 in custard form. Seriously delicious. Fairly-ish priced and the service came with a smile. What more could you want on a hot summer night?
(4)Michael H.
Pretty good! All natural custard with a nice array of toppings. Would recommend to a friend
(4)Jonathan W.
Best frozen custard in town, worst customer service. This location is no longer owned by Mr Sheridan himself and it shows. They almost never get your order correct, especially not if you ask for lids so you can take it home and enjoy it. Plus, especially if they are busy, plan on getting a concrete that isn't mixed well because they are in too big of a hurry. But the custard is great!
(1)Stephen H.
Frozen Custard - don't know where it started, but don't know why I had to be deprived of it when I lived on either coast. Smoother, creamier, and obviously easier to jam toppings into. On top of that, I can order hot dogs?? Love it.

I lived in Overland Park, Kansas City area for a couple of years and when I think of KC, two things come to mind, BBQ and Sheridan's. Whether it was the Mango Dango, the Razzle Dazzle or the graham cracker and chocolate concrete, this place has some of the best custard I've ever had the pleasure of eating. I wrote a review for an awesome custard establishment out here in Arizona the other day and it made me think of Sheridan's, so I had to write a review. I stopped in to this location about a year and a half ago while driving through KC and it was as good as I remembered it. Yeah, Sheridan's brings back good memories of KC and if I'm ever there again I will no doubt stop in for a tasty treat at this location.
(4)Michelle F.
YUM. It's always good and I like that they have started offering the concretes in smaller sizes. Lines can get long but they keep this store well staffed and manage to crank out the ice cream so you're not waiting too long to get your fix.
(4)Angelique F.
Nectar of the gods! I've always liked an eggy vanilla ice cream and this is hands down what I've been searching for all my life. This is real frozen custard...scooped and not that fake soft-serve imitation custard some places push off as authentic. Amazing stuff.
(5)Ryan A.
I was pretty skeptical that I'd dig this place, but you know what? It's pretty good! I suppose, though, that it's probably pretty difficult to screw up frozen custard given the right equipment. What's the worst thing that can happen? Well, ok, I suppose inadvertently scrambling the eggs going into your frozen custard is probably the worst thing that can happen, and that sounds pretty gross. Nevermind. I guess you can screw up frozen custard. Sheridan's doesn't, though; or at least, they didn't when I visited recently and enjoyed a chocolate and macadamia nut concrete. The worst thing about the place is that I was totally done by about halfway through the smallest size they offer. Of course I couldn't throw it away, so I finished it. Guilty. Would be nice if they had a smaller option.

I wish it were possible for me to enjoy a Sheridan's concrete without feeling like I just chugged an entire gallon of whole milk in one sitting. These Wonka-esque custard creations are ridiculously rich and simply put, heavenly. Concrete is not a misnomer when it comes to the thickness of their custard. I've actually had employees hand me my concrete upside down to proudly exhibit the solidity of their custard. Unfortunately (for me), the sheer delight of enjoying one of these frosty treats is short-lived. I'm not lactose intolerant by any means, but I inevitably become sick to my stomach after consuming a regular-sized concrete. 5 stars for the custard. 1 star for the gut-wrenching keel over that shortly follows...

I love everything at Sheridan's. Wish I could spare the calories to eat here everyday. My favorite is the grasshopper custard. So good.
(4)Rachel S.
Dear Ron Hendricks and the Sheridan's franchisee team, Will you PLEEEEEZ expand to the SF Bay Area?! I miss you guys so, so much. Every time I visit OP, I do everything in my power to overload myself with your goodies to the point of pants-tightening in a timeframe of about 3 days (mostly hot fudge malts, as no one else anywhere seems to be able to grasp the concept that you can fabricate such a thing). For the love of all that is frozen, what I wouldn't do to be within driving distance of a Sheridan's; please expand to CA. Your best friend, lifetime patron and former employee, Rachel S.

We have Culver's in MN and wow, this place blows that out of the water.
(5)Stephanie G.
I can only give this Sheridan's 3 stars because the wait is always ridiculous. At least 15 minutes no matter what time. Besides, it is always teenagers so service is never good. Finally, because although it is hard to mess up frozen custard, Sheridan's does in that it melts instantly with hot toppings. To me it is like soft serve. :-( That said, if you prefer concretes then I guess you are safe. I personally can only get custard from here if it is just plain, on a cone. It is the only way it will keep its creamy, dense goodness that I do love in frozen custard. If you want a sundae with hot toppings, go to Foo's, it is the only one around that can withstand hot toppings and not melt instantly. The only negative of Foo's is that the Brookside location only has vanilla, whereas the the one at 95th & Mission has both Chocolate and Vanilla. Enjoy. Or not. It will completely depend upon how you prefer to eat it.
(3)Lyn P.
This location always seems to be busy, but it's definitely worth the craziness to get some custard. The consensus seems to be that the vanilla is better than the chocolate. They have great choices as far as making sundaes and what not, but I am a shake person and nothing beats a peanut butter cup shake. Sheridan's custard is thick and creamy and is perfect for when you want a frozen treat. And the prices are totally reasonable. Two scoops for $1.69? Cha-ching!
(3)Gloria L.
i'm not a huge ice cream nor frozen custard fan... but since frozen custard seems big in the midwest, i had to try it! i had the mini concrete... it's a bit thicker in consistency but very smooth... good service... and definitely worth trying at least once, if not few times... this was my second time. i definitely enjoyed the experience... but not a must have!
(3)Michelle G.
this location is packed, i prefer the location at 119th and Blue Valley Parkway, next to the Back Yard Burgers chili cheese burgers and concretes together. bliss on a summer night. plan to eat there. i like the plain concretes topped with raspberries or strawberries chocolate with pecans and caramel is also a less expensive but tasty turtle sundae i have never been disapointed in a Sheridans treat. its also an excellent place to take out of towners and show them the best that KC has to offer.

Their PUMPKIN PIE CONCRETE is one of my favorite desserts, other items are good, but not that impressive.

Sheridan's I MISS YOU SO MUCH! PLEASE COME BACK TO LAWRENCE!! Being from out-of-state, Sheridan's is a relatively new thing to me. I used to frequent the one in Lawrence all the time, particularly because they were open til 11 or midnight, and I'd swing by and grab a late-night banana split. Because that's totally normal. And then Sheridan's left. I had never totally appreciated Sheridan's as much as I should have. Now I have to get my banana splits at normal hours, and with less tasty custard (sorry, Culver's). But worst of all was what I deem made Sheridan's unique among custard places - creating specials with baked goods. GAH. I miss it so much. The last time I went they had a blackberry cobbler sundae - AMAZING. The second-to-last time I went, they were going to have apple pie sundae the next day (bummer), but that day had strawberry shortcake, with *real* shortbread, not that angel food stuff. Oh :(

I only gives this a 1 star because they have absolutely nothing for the lactose intolerant. I called their main office and they said. You are correct we have nothing you can eat. Sorry. At least add one sorbet or flavored icy. It really sucks to go somewhere and watch everyone else eat and you can't. I take that back I could sit there and eat topping. I can eat nuts, strawberries and sprinkles while everyone else enjoys cold yummy goodness. I think not. Seriously add something for the lactose intolerant. Baskin Robbins, Cold Stone Creamy all have something for me.
(1)Erica M.
LOVE This place. The people are so nice and friendly. The custard is amazingly smooth and creamy. And the toppings are premium. They have a great variety to choose from.
(5)Renee P.
Wow... This place is good. I've tried Culver's before, but I think Sheridan's is a better custard. What do I know I'm just a Cali girl and we don't have frozen custard, but I like ice cream and if you want something thick and creamy this will hit the spot. I tried both the Chocolate and Vanilla custard and though both were good, the chocolate was REALLY rich and was almost a little too much. What I got: Chocolate and Vanilla w/ Health
(4)Ken L.
Good place to get custard. I'm not crazy about their creations and after a while learned that making my own creations works out much better. I have only had the custard and nothing else, so keep that in mind with this review. This is one of the places I will miss when I move back to San Francisco. I can't say this is as good as it gets, because I like Custard's Last Stand slightly better.
